Screen Gems’ Straw Dogs hits theaters on September 16, 2011 with James Marsden, Kate Bosworth and Alexander Skarsgard in starring roles. Marsden and Bosworth play a married couple, David and Amy Sumner, who return to Amy’s small Southern hometown following the death of her father. Amy’s welcomed back, but her screenwriter husband is treated like the Hollywood outsider that he is, setting up a showdown between David and Amy’s old high school boyfriend, Charlie (Skarsgard).

In these interview videos provided by Screen Gems, Marsden and Bosworth discuss their characters, the script, and the relationship between David and Amy. And Marsden also answers a frequently asked question: what does the term ‘straw dogs’ mean?

The Plot: David and Amy Sumner (James Marsden and Kate Bosworth), a Hollywood screenwriter and his actress wife, return to her small hometown in the deep South to prepare the family home for sale after her father’s death. Once there, tensions build in their marriage and old conflicts re-emerge with the locals, including Amy’s ex-boyfriend Charlie (Alexander Skarsgard), leading to a violent confrontation.
