Astronaut Sings Bowie’s “Space Oddity” in Space

This is pretty much the most epically cool video from space you’ll ever see. International Space Station Commander Chris Hadfield takes time away from doing whatever it is Space Station Commanders do to record a version of David Bowe’s “Space Oddity” – commonly referred to as “that Major Tom song” – and the song’s lyrics have never been put to more appropriate use. Even Bowie is pleased with this version, tweeting out the link to his fans and saying: “CHRIS HADFIELD SINGS SPACE ODDITY IN SPACE! ‘Hallo Spaceboy…'”

Hadfield (the first Canadian Commander of the International Space Station) just returned to Earth after five months onboard the ISS, and “Space Oddity” was released just days before he turned over command of the Space Station to Pavel Vinogradov.
