The Voice coaches Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani have been tapped to provide an original song for Paddington, the live-action/CGI mix that brings to the big screen the adorable bear featured in Michael Bond’s beloved books. Williams and Stefani co-wrote and sang “Shine” which is featured in Paddington directed by Paul King and starring Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Jim Broadbent, Julie Walters, Peter Capaldi, Michael Gambon, Imelda Staunton, and Nicole Kidman. Ben Whishaw provides the voice of Paddington.

“What a wonderful opportunity, as a parent, to contribute to something as classic, authentic and generational to all of our lives, as Paddington Bear,” said Pharrell Williams.

“I am honored to join forces with Pharrell and be part of bringing this beloved classic to life for Paddington’s next big adventure,” added Gwen Stefani.

TWC-Dimension’s Paddington will open in theaters on January 16, 2015.

The Paddington Plot:

Paddington tells the story of the comic misadventures of a young Peruvian bear who travels to the city in search of a home. Finding himself lost and alone, he begins to realize that city life is not all he had imagined – until he meets the kindly Brown family who read the label around his neck that says “Please look after this bear. Thank you,” and offer him a temporary haven.

It looks as though his luck has changed until this rarest of bears catches the eye of a museum taxidermist. The film features an entirely computer-generated bear who interacts with a cast of esteemed actors.
