The 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards were held on Sunday, January 27th in Los Angeles, with members of SAG honoring the best performances by actors in films and on television in 2012. And unlike most of this year’s awards shows, the SAG Awards actually had a few surprises amongst its winners. Bryan Cranston nabbed his first ‘Actor’ statuette for his work on Breaking Bad, and that was certainly unexpected though not undeserved. Also pulling off a bit of a surprise win was Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook) over Jessica Chastain, Marion Cotillard, Helen Mirren, and Naomi Watts. And Downton Abbey earned its first nomination in the ensemble TV drama category and snagged a surprise win over Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, Homeland and Mad Men.

100,000+ active members of SAG-AFTRA were eligible to vote for the recipients.
