Filming Has Officially Begun on ‘Ant-Man’

After a rough pre-production period in which director Edgar Wright exited the project, filming has now begun on Marvel’s Ant-Man starring Paul Rudd in the title role. Marvel Studios says shooting is currently taking place in San Francisco but that the film’s base will be in Atlanta, Georgia, with Marvel planning a July 17, 2015 theatrical release of the action film.

Bring It On director Peyton Reed is at the helm of the feature film adaptation of the Marvel comic first published in 1962.

In addition to Rudd, the cast features Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Abby Ryder Fortson, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris, John Slattery, Gregg Turkington, and T.I.

The Ant-Man Plot:

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
