Marvel has confirmed the casting rumor and Charlie Cox, who recently finished up work on the HBO series Boardwalk Empire, is the first officially announced cast member for Marvel’s Daredevil. The 13-episode series is set to air on Netflix next year and will have Cox in the lead as Matt Murdock, a character who was blinded as a child but “imbued with extraordinary senses.”
Murdock fights the good fight as a lawyer during the day, and at night, he turns into the superhero Daredevil.
The series is set in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.
Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is on board as showrunner and executive producer. Cabin in the Woods‘ Drew Goddard is also executive producing as well as writing the first few episodes.
