Walt Disney Pictures’ animated wintry comedy/drama Frozen is now officially the highest grossing animated movie in the history of animated movies. Frozen‘s thawed out wallets to the tune of $1,072.4 million worldwide, which not only makes it the #1 animated film but also earns it a spot on the Top 10 list of the biggest grossing films (live-action and animated) of all time.

Frozen brought in $398.4 million domestically and $674 million internationally, according to Disney.

Walt Disney Animation Studios earned its first Best Animated Film Oscar with Frozen and it’s the only film from the studio to make it past the billion dollar mark. And Disney reports Frozen had the longest run on the top 10 list of any film since 2002 (16 consecutive weeks). Disney recently launched the film on Blu-ray, DVD, and digitally, and it immediately became the fastest selling digital release in history. It sold an incredible 3.2 million Blu-ray/DVD copies on its first day of release.

The Plot: Walt Disney Animation Studios, the studio behind Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph, presents Frozen, a stunning big-screen comedy adventure. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf (voiced by Josh Gad), Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom.
