Gwendoline Christie and Lupita Nyong’o have joined the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII, as confirmed by Lucasfilm. Christie’s best known to Game of Thrones fans as Brienne of Tarth and Nyong’o just earned a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance in 12 Years a Slave.

Christie also recently landed a role in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.

“I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII,” says Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. “It’s thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape.”

Nyong’o and Christie join a cast that includes Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow.

J.J. Abrams is currently hard at work directing the new Star Wars movie from a script he co-wrote with Lawrence Kasdan. Disney and Lucasfilm will be launching Star Wars: Episode VII in theaters on December 18, 2015.
