Breaking Bad had to end in order for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to decide it was worthy of a best drama series win as well as a win for its lead actor Bryan Cranston. Cranston had been nominated five times, but the 2014 Golden Globes marked his first win.

The series, which had over the course of its run accumulated seven nominations, finally nabbed the prize following its final season on air.
