Jennifer Lopez Will Receive Billboard’s Icon Award

Jennifer Lopez receives Icon Award

American Idol coach/actress/singer Jennifer Lopez has been tapped to receive the Icon Award at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards to be held on May 18th in Las Vegas. Lopez is only the fourth artist (and first woman) to receive the lifetime achievement award from Billboard, following in the footsteps of Prince, Stevie Wonder, and Neil Diamond. Billboard’s Icon Award is given in recognition of an artist’s “remarkable and enduring contribution to popular music.”

“Jennifer Lopez is one of the most iconic performers of her generation,” stated Larry Klein producer of the Billboard Music Awards. “We are thrilled to honor her historic career with the 2014 Icon Award and will be on the edge of our seats like everyone else when she takes the stage.”

In addition to receiving the Icon Award, Lopez will perform “We Are One (Ole Ola)” with Pitbull and “First Love” off of AKA during the awards show. Also set to perform are 5 Seconds of Summer, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Derulo, Imagine Dragons, Luke Bryan, John Legend and OneRepublic.

The show will be televised at 8pm ET on ABC.
